Quality Engineering Staff
All engineering staff at Ansaldo STS are engaged in safety related design, engineering and testing are trained to meet prescribed competency standards. Ansaldo STS is an active supporter of the industry's peak professional bodies, the Institution of Railway Signal Engineers (IRSE) in Australia and the Institution of Railway Signal and Telecom Engineers (IRSTE) in India. All engineers are encouraged to join and actively participate in the professional development opportunities provided by the institutions.

Quality Software Development Staff
The Software Departments of Ansaldo STS provides design, development and deployment of software solutions. Typically the software solutions are integrated with broader engineering projects and are managed as part of a total solution. The Software Department of Union Switch & Signal Pvt Ltd in Bangalore, India has achieved Level 3 CMMI certification after demonstrating controlled, traceable and effective software development processes before an independent CMMI auditor. The Bangalore based Software Department provides global support to the group companies.

Quality Certification
Ansaldo STS’s processes embodied in its TMS are certified and accredited to ISO9001-2000 Quality Management Systems. This provides assurance to customers that Ansaldo STS’s processes will meet customer needs. This standard embodies a continuous improvement program, which ensures the continual development of business systems. This encompasses updating design processes and project delivery on a regular basis to keep pace with a competitive market. Compliance with the international standard is independently audited at every Ansaldo STS facility.

Australian Standard AS4292 sets out the overall processes for managing safety on railways within Australia. The requirements of this standard are incorporated into Ansaldo STS’s TMS.

Occupational Health & Safety Management System Certification
Ansaldo STS’s TMS is certified as complying to the requirements of AS/NZS - 4801 Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems. The Australian facilities are certified and accredited to AS/NZS - 4801 Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems.

The facilities in India and Malaysia comply with Ansaldo STS’s TMS Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems requirements as well as with their local legislation. Compliance with the standard is independently audited at every Ansaldo STS facility.
